Christina’s gorgeous retro updo is simple, yet chic!
Celebrity hairstyles don’t have to be complicated to be sophisticated. You can get this look in 6 easy steps!
STEP 1: CLEANSE HAIR
As always, start by cleansing the hair by washing with a shampoo and then following with a moisturizing shampoo to retain that healthy, shiny appearance.
STEP 2: DRY HAIR
For those with straight hair, simply dry hair using a brush, ensuring that hair is smooth.
For the ladies with curly hair, straighten hair with a large round brush while drying and then straighten using a flattening iron by separating into small 1 to 2 inch sections.
Then, rub a little bit of hair smoothing product (try Frederic Fekkai Smooth Hair, Hydrating Hair Cream) between your palms and apply to dried hair.
STEP 3: SECURE HAIR
Part hair on side, leaving the hair in the crown section separate to be styled in the next step. Then, starting from the back end of the crown, comb back toward the nape of your hair and pin in place. Next, comb back both sides of the hair and secure hair with an elastic (NOTE: the elastic will be covered with your hair).
STEP 4: TWIST HAIR
Twist hair around the elastic, as if you were creating a bun, until there is about 6 inches of hair remaining and tuck under the bun and securely pin securely to the nape.
STEP 5: CURL HAIR
Pre-heat a 3/4″ barrel curling iron, preferably a ceramic curling iron that won’t leave your hair fried such as the Magic Ionic Digital Spring Ceramic Curling Iron 3/4 , Model MI-CURL/S, and curl the loose ends of hair from the bun, spritz lightly with holding spray.
Comb hair downward, away from the crown as if you were parting it, and then lay hand flat against that section of hair and push slightly upward toward the crown for extra volume and spray a bit of hairspray to keep it in place. Then, take a smaller curling iron (try a Conair 1/2 Instant Heat Curling Iron, Model CD80JCS) curl upward, away from the face, clip at tail end to secure in place ensuring that the pin is hidden beneath the hair.
STEP 6: FINISH HAIR
Finish your red carpet look by using a little more smoothing cream to get every hair in its proper place. Finally, a bit of hairspray and your celeb hair is complete! ♥ veronica
